(1893-1973) Roman Catholic priest; L.L.B., Notre Dame, 1918; Ph.D., Catholic University, 1926; sociology faculty, University of Notre Dame, 1926-1968 (professor and founding department head, 1926-1953); awarded L.L.D. upon his retirement. Second President of the American Catholic Sociological Society, 1939. Murray's interests were divided between anthropology, particularly prehistoric archeology, and social problems, particularly delinquency.
