JOURNAL FOR THE SCIENTIFIC STUDY OF RELIGION | ||||
The Society for the Scientific Study of Religion (SSSR) was founded in 1949 by scholars of religion and social science. Its purpose is to stimulate and communicate significant scientific research on religious institutions and experience. In 1961, the SSSR inaugurated publication of the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion (JSSR) , which is published quarterly as the SSSR's official scholarly record. JSSR is committed to publishing scholarly articles that formulate and test social scientific theories of religion. JSSR reflects the interdisciplinary character of the SSSR and its membership, publishing manuscripts from scholars in a variety of academic disciplinessociology, psychology, political science, economics, anthropology, religious studies, and history. JSSR ranks as the leading journal in North America dedicated to pursuing the social scientific study of religion, and has a substantial international constituency among both individual scholars and university libraries.
