Congregations
Much of the work of Hartford Institute current and former faculty is related to the study of congregational life.
The Institute has had a long-standing commitment to helping to increase the vitality of local churches, mosques and synagogues as well as congregations of all other religious traditions.
Much of the Institute's efforts by faculty and staff through research projects, writing, and public presentations over the years focuses on the enrichment of congregational life.
In this section one can find summaries of scholarly research done over the past decade related to congregational life. There are also countless articles available here to further understand the social dynamics of the congregation. Additionally, resources are provided in support of a academic sub discipline called congregational studies. Finally, we include a section of the site highlighting attempts to understand the developing trend toward nondenominational congregations.
