MIHANOVICH, CLEMENT S.

(1913-) After receiving undergraduate, A.M., and Ph.D. degrees in sociology at St. Louis University (1935-1939), Mihanovich joined the St. Louis faculty in 1938, becoming Emeritus Professor in 1981. President, American Catholic Sociological Society, 1950.

Mihanovich's contributions to the American Catholic Sociological Review were varied. His earliest publication in the Review was a study of the geographic mobility of prominent American Catholic laymen; a later article examined the social attitudes of Catholic high school seniors; a study of the legal grounds for divorce also appeared in the Review . Mihanovich wrote for a wide variety of publications: professional journals, newsweeklies such as America , family-oriented publications such as Family Digest , and church-related publications such as The Missionary Servant . His areas of later concern continued to be wide ranging, as evidenced by published studies of immigration, teenage criminals, law enforcement, and issues concerning science and technology.
